Sunday... [Jul. 12th, 2009|11:41 am] sea_cucumber [ Current Location | at home in computer room ] [ mood | busy ] [ music | Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (from youtube! Waah! Want mp3s!) ] Yesterday was good. I woke up, watched the German F1 qualifying, had food then fell asleep again. Then stealthracer appeared and we took computers to bits. For SCIENCE! It was like surgery for machines. If I ever play a tech priest in the 40K larp I want some of those reinforced computer power cables for costume. Is it weird to get costume ideas from the insides of computers? :D Then there was curry and cinema (saw Public Enemies, I enjoyed it, yay for 30s gangster goodness)! And afterwards was Quake 4 installation, it runs very smoothly now. On LINUX! Mmmm :) There was also the added bonus of the Nerf guns. stealthracer put an extra couple in his order from the US for me in return for painting his up for the 40k game! Gus is scared of the N-Strike Vulcan (and no, I didn't shoot him, or the cats, for that would be so harsh, it's just the noise he doesn't like)... DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA! In a few weeks when I have time I am going to go to Hobbycraft and get some paints, I have ideas for how to make them look suitably doom, comparing them with the pictures in the Dark Heresy rulebook one pretty much looks exactly like a boltgun if you take the barrel and stock off! :D Today I am trying to get something that will work with my iPod on Linux. Banshee looked good but it isn't in the yum repositories! Naughty yum! Now trying with Amarok as that works brilliantly on my eee... but it is being troublesome and pretending it doesn't play mp3s :O But I have done something useful today, I can has Microsoft office fonts in open office now :D :D Now I don't have to switch to Windows to print my mum's college work out :) Now back to poking Amarok with sharp poky sticks. And then once I have done that I think I will switch to windows and install Dawn of War :D I don't mind switching to Windows for games ;) link 1 comment|post comment

He didn't really believe in Evil, but they payed well and the job security was pretty good. Through a convoluted series of events, he ends up in Good Organization Y almost by accident. He like their ideals better, but they don't pay him well. Or at all. He misses getting paid. Several people find out he previously worked for X and reasonably ask how he ended up in Y. After the third time this happens, he goes on a rather long diatribe about how not everyone who works for X is actually evil, they're just so large that they get even the innocent working in their offices, because there's quite a few people out there willing to turn a blind eye so long as all they're doing personally is filing papers and collecting a paycheck. There are all types, and not everyone in X is actually Evil. Character B responds with "Oh, I guess that makes sense. After all, we have spies in X and they give us lots of good information." Way to completely negate A's point that while X may be evil, many of it's little paper-pushers are just normal people with a 9-to-5. But hey, the alternate interpretation of 'we're all good and they're all bad' works, too. -_- link 4 comments|post comment

It took over and hour for us to pull him out of a bar without starting a fight. I'm also getting damn sick of your drunk voice and your character doing stupid things because he's drunk and saying stupid stuff because he's drunk. Especially since my character, due to him having a high level of COMMON SENSE, is always having to bail you out of trouble, remind you not to do things that will get us in trouble or bribe you with the promise of booze just to get your character to shut up long enough for us to leave the scene of your latest mess without making things worse. I can tell you're loving it. Guess who's not? Me! I didn't join this game to play nanny to your character. I'd like for my guy to be able to have some fun and not have to spend most of his time putting out fires that you start. Dear DM, Stop letting the drunk character run wild. You don't need to tell the guy to full on stop. Just get him to tone it down. This game is supposed to be fun for everyone and I sure as hell did not have fun tonight because of this guy.
